Search-Based Testing: The Past, the Present and the Future

The use of search optimization techniques to address difficult and/or seemingly intractable problems in software testing has been burgeoning interest for many researchers in recent years. This keynote talk will review the current state of the art and the rapidly-growing body of research in search-based testing; also serving as a useful introduction to those from the general software testing community interested in the field. From here the talk will look at where the field needs to go in the next 10 years, discussing open problems, challenges and area for future work; particularly with respect to the problem of automatic test data generation.
